Martini on East River
Oh! Where was the place we used to
go.
The bar where you finally said good-bye,
Urged by the twinkle of the city lights.
Was it called Windows on The World or
Greatest Bar on Earth?
It was at the top of twin towers
Which terrorists hurt so cruelly.
Well! we used to be like twins, didn't we.
Shattered building revived
Aided by the "world" out there,
Our promised ring passed away,
Became the luminous corpse of the noctiluca
down there.
What we've done for peace,
Didn't we forget to do something
To make peace for ourselves?
Tell you now, that was the bitterest martini
I've ever had.
